A world of possibilities.

Last night as I was lost sketching my dream apartment, I realized that it might also be a good idea to make a more realistic sketch. You know for practical purposes. I finished the dimensions of the room, placed a rug here and a table there and ta-da! A little more shabby then chic I laughed to myself. As I stared at the paper I couldn’t help but smile. This is life. Slowly enjoying the moments. To laugh at the humble beginnings and thank God that even in those moments there is so much to be thankful for. A home that not only is practical but adorable! A place to call my own free from pressing fear of an enemy or one wishing me harm. A place of my very own maybe without the bells and whistles and yet mine. All mine. Then it hit me! An empty room may not be the most ideal Living Room but I began to think of what else it could become. Come on dreamer…think BIG! I scribbled “someday” on the lavish dream on the one side and wrote “a world of possibilities” on the other.
My mind was swirling with new innovative ideas. Perhaps a pillow room…after all I have plenty of those. It could be the super cool lounge room that’s strictly B.Y.O.P. or bring your own pillow! A haven designed for fun and laughter and movie watching. OR, a dance studio! Now we are talking, a place to shimmy and shake where jazz hands rule and those unwanted calories are shunned. Oh I know, a furniture painting workshop, a room devoid of other furniture that might accidentally get painted or tainted. A place to let the creative juices flow and finally try out some of the refurbishing techniques I had found and doggy eared.
My heart soared as reality dawned! The apartment wasn’t just a place to live or decorate. It was even greater. It was a place to dream. How fitting. A beautiful and perfect gift given to me by the Father of Heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows. I felt like a kid again, given a box that soon would become a spaceship to the moon, a pirate’s plundered treasure, or a tunnel to the other side of the world. I’m not sure how much joy can fill a heart but I think in the moments and years to come I might just find out.
